COD-BOD Reduction, Case Study 1:
PROBIOTIC SOLUTIONS® Saves Dredging Costs for a small town in Maryland. Their 1.5-acre municipal wastewater lagoon was built in 1964 and services 350 people. The daily flow averages 45,000 gallons. The influent BOD averages between 250-300. In June of 1995, the Maryland Department of Environment contacted PROBIOTIC SOLUTIONS after numerous violations were sited at Galena's lagoon. Before the addition of BIO ENERGIZER, DO was below 6, effluent BOD was 187 and TSS was 200. The limits were 25 and 90 respectively. Average sludge depth was 27".
PROBIOTIC SOLUTIONS' treatment consisted of an initial topical treatment of 5 gallons of BIO ENERGIZER. This was followed by a maintenance dosage of 8-12 oz.day, 5 days/week. Treatment is hand applied and is added at different manholes through town 3 days a week and at the lagoon 2 days a week. After 6 months of treatment the following results were observed:
